Étymologie
terme inventé en 1516 par Thomas More dans son livre (en latin) Utopia, provenant du grec : le préfixe ou (de sens privatif et noté à la latine, au moyen de la seule lettre u, prononcée comme ou) et topos (lieu) et signifiant donc « (qui n’est) en aucun lieu ». Il est aussi possible d’y voir un préfixe eu, « bon ».
