Maybe it's high time I got my priorities right, and quit the project for the upteenth time, and focus on earning some money, getting laid and learning more about data compression, internet security, Euler's Equations, intermediate cryptography, translation of literary French, the French past historic tense, how to write a decent CV, social skills, how to take notes and how to trick multinational companies into giving me lots of money for doing little work. As much as I am flattered to be your first nomination, I must respectfully decline. While I thoroughly enjoy contributing to Wiktionary, I believe it is a disservice to our other contributors and to the project to suggest that my (or anyone else's) contributions are somehow better or more valuable than others'. I could not possibly have entered the 74,000th article without well over 73,000 articles and many times that number of edits by others all over the world, and even the articles I have started have been greatly enhanced by others additions of translations, etymologies, pronunciations, definitions, and notes, often matter that is entirely beyond my ability to contribute. (Besides, administrators already have a vote of confidence from the community and if there is a WOTM, it should be a contributor.)

If there is one thing I have learned working on Wiktionary, it is that each contributor brings his or her own strengths to the project, be they definitions, pronunciations, research, cleanup, technical input, insight into policy and data management, or a simply solid grasp of languages and translations. May I suggest, in lieu of a monthly popularity contest, formalizing the Wikithanks or creating a general Wiktionary award (akin to the Wikipedia Barnstar) that may be presented by anyone, to anyone caught doing Wonderful Things? The puzzle-piece theme I have seen, I think, reflects the idea beautifully that each of us is an important part of a larger whole than any one of us could be alone. --Dvortygirl 28 June 2005 18:38 (UTC)

User:Vildricianus, for practically taking over from SemperBlotto as RC patrol; vast revampings of pages, having a name easy to misspell, and enthusiasm about project. Not enough to get a 'crat vote from me though.

Stuff

Unusual entries I made, which I put all together so that if anyone plans to trawl through my dodgy edits (about 1 in 50 of them are intentionally dodgy, I'd say, and then maybe 3 in 50 are unintentionally dodgy. Then maybe another 3 in fifty are not at all useful to the project). Still, 84% are good edits, and if Wiktionary was an exam, I'd've passed with flying colours.
